Analyzing the Role of Encryption in Protecting Critical Infrastructure Against Cyber Threats
Keywords:
Encryption, Cybersecurity, Critical Infrastructure, Cyber Threats, Data Protection, Quantum ComputingAbstract
The increasing reliance on digital technologies for critical infrastructure has amplified concerns about cyber threats targeting these vital systems. Encryption, as a cornerstone of cybersecurity, plays a pivotal role in safeguarding the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of critical infrastructure. This paper explores the multifaceted role of encryption in protecting critical infrastructure against cyber threats, analyzing its applications, limitations, and emerging trends. It highlights the effectiveness of encryption in securing communication channels, protecting sensitive data, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. Moreover, it examines the challenges posed by evolving cyber threats, quantum computing, and the trade-offs between security and system performance. The findings underscore the need for robust encryption protocols and adaptive strategies to address emerging vulnerabilities and ensure the resilience of critical infrastructure.
